I Love Newborn photography
What to expect from your baby portrait shoot.
1. When to book a photo shoot?
Preferably, when you re still pregnant.Typically after 20 week scan. The dates are filling up quickly, so let me know your due date and we will book a session as soon as you baby is born.
2. What is the best age to photograph babies?
The ideal time to photograph your baby is 7 to 10 days of age. At this age your baby is still very sleepy and flexible and this allows us to safely and comfortably pose your baby in the beautiful, dreamy, sleepy poses that are so popular.Newborn babies sleep a lot. It may be mostly during the day.To take the most beautiful, candid photos we all love, ideally your baby should be asleep during the session. It does happen that great results are achieved with a baby who is already awake, but as a rule of thumb: sleepy baby = great session. We can pose them in lovely, curled up poses, their face looks relaxed, and that’s how we want to remember them: relaxed and calm. Happy. As much as mums often don’t feel up for venturing out of the house just yet, I strongly recommend this age for a shoot. Babies stay asleep longer, don’t mind being undressed and usually at this stage have their feeding set to at least every two hours.
3. Where will the session take place and how long does it take?
The session will take place in my home studio. I provide a warm and baby friendly environment as well as use a variety of props. Session can take anything between 3-5 hours.
4. What if my baby cries or is unsettled?
We can take as many breaks as baby needs for some mummy cuddles, feeds and soothing. There is no rush and we want to make a session as relaxed and enjoyable as possible for both mum and baby.
